Today's market of full-size SUVs offer great options, but more improvements come every year. One model to look forward to is the 2016 Lincoln Navigator, which will soon arrive in Lincoln dealerships fitted with several updates.
The Navigator is the brand's first SUV and four-wheel drive capable vehicle. Throughout the years, it has received different improvements, but mostly just minor ones. The 2015 "refresh" took it to another level as the model was brought from a repackaged Ford Expedition to a prime competitor in the luxury SUV segment.
The 2015 model already received positive revamps in the performance, interior, exterior, and safety features. The 2016 model will have even more redesigns as part of Ford's vision to raise the Lincoln brand into a prime competitor in the luxury car scene.
The Updated F150 Platform
A car's design platform presents major contributions to how the car will be built. Previous Navigator models were based on the F150 platform. The 2016 Lincoln Navigator will still adopt this but what's different now is that the platform itself has been updated.
The most noted change in the platform is the use of steel frames and military-grade aluminum in the body. Forbes points out that this allows a weight reduction of around 700 pounds while still retaining optimal strength. These characteristics are sure to reflect on the 2016 Navigator.
Beneath the Hood
Older models were equipped with the V8 engine, but this is bound to be replaced with the objective of improving fuel economy and eco-friendliness of Lincoln vehicles. No confirmation yet as of what engine will actually be fitted into the 2016 Navigator, but released information says the vehicle will be powered by a hybrid drivetrain. New Car SUV predicts that it will likely have the EcoBoost V6 Engine.
Release Date
