Back to Basics…Sort Of

In judging how a car should be, it’s always a good idea to look at the standard model and its available features. The 2017 Lincoln Continental is a great example of a luxury sedan that comes with more than the average package and only gets better as you climb up the models.

The base model for the Lincoln Continental is the Premier trim, powered by a 3.7 liter V6 engine teamed with a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine produces an impressive 305 horsepower and more than enough torque at 280 lb-ft, that’s enough to keep up with the competition while at the same time offering great fuel economy, giving 17/26 mpg for city and highway driving.

The Premiere trim also comes with a vast array of features including adaptive xenon headlights, LED running lights, remote engine start, heated mirrors with integrated blind-spot detection, a rearview camera and parking sensors, and much more.

Step it Up a Gear

If you want to get even more bang for your buck, you can consider any of the other three trim options: Select, Reserve and Black Label, each offering even more than the last.

The Select trim includes everything in the Premiere trim selection, but adds 19-inch alloy wheels, hands-free trunk opening and gives you the option to plump for the 2.7 liter V6 engine which produces a massive 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. This engine offers slightly improved fuel economy compared to the standard 3.7 liter, giving you a boastful 18/27 mpg for city and highway driving.

Stepping into the Reserve and Black Label editions, you are treated to 24-way power-adjustable seats with ventilation, a tri-zone automatic climate control and you are given the option to upgrade to the monstrous 3.0 liter V6 which produces a whopping 400 horsepower with 400 lb-ft of torque. The range topping Black Label also adds 20-inch alloy wheels and a 19 speaker Revel Ultima sound system.

It’s quite plain to see that the 2017 Lincoln Continental has positioned itself to rival those who have been leading the class in the years that the Continental has been missing from forecourts. With its impressive lists of features and its luxury styling, you would be mad not to check it out from Lincoln dealers near Hammond, LA.
